For field & countryside teams

Your people work alone,
where help can't easily reach them.

Rangers, wardens, foresters and field officers often work on their own, in remote places with no phone signal. Vygard makes sure someone always knows where they are, and can get help to them fast, even off the grid.

The problem

When a lone worker is in trouble, minutes matter.

A worker alone in woodland or on a moor can't always reach for a phone, and often has no signal if they do. The honest question for any organisation with field staff is simple:

  • If someone fell and couldn't move, how long before anyone noticed?
A missed radio call or a late finish is often the first sign, hours later.
  • Would you know where they were?
Not a last-known car park, their exact location, down to a few metres.
  • Could you show you had done everything reasonable?
Duty of care under health-and-safety law, and a record that proves it.
How it works

Simple for the worker. Automatic when it counts.

It runs quietly on the phone they already carry. Nobody has to remember to open an app in a crisis, that is the whole point.

1

They head out

A tap to say where they are going and for how long, or a timed check-in. One press for SOS, by hand or by voice.

2

Vygard watches

It detects a fall or no movement, and notices if a job runs over or a check-in is missed, without the worker doing anything.

3

It raises the alarm

If something is wrong and nobody responds, it escalates automatically through your own responders to emergency services.

4

Help finds them

Their exact location goes out with the alert, including what3words, sent over satellite when there is no phone signal.

Why it fits field teams

Built for people who work beyond the signal.

Works off-grid

SOS routes over a paired satellite communicator (Garmin inReach, SPOT, Iridium), or the phone's own Emergency SOS via satellite, so it works in the woodland, moorland and coast where phones and radios do not.

No hardware to buy

Runs on the phones your staff already have, with satellite added only where it is needed. Nothing to procure, charge or replace across a whole workforce.

Defensible and auditable

BS 8484-aligned, with a full, exportable record of every alert, check-in and response, ready for your duty-of-care evidence and public accountability.

By organisation

One platform, tailored to the work.

Forestry Commission

Chainsaw and woodland work, far from the road and out of signal. The Forestry pack adds FISA-aligned check-ins and off-grid SOS to the safety core.

National Trust

Rangers and wardens working alone across vast estates, coast and countryside, often public-facing. One safety net that follows them wherever the work is.

Natural England

Field ecologists and advisers alone in remote SSSIs, uplands and coast. Location and welfare cover where a site visit has no mobile coverage.

Local authorities

Countryside, rights-of-way and tree officers, grounds, enforcement and inspection teams, lone and mobile across a whole district.

Organisations named are illustrative of the field-worker setting Vygard is built for, and are not stated to be customers.

What you get

The full safety picture, not a panic button.

One-tap & voice SOS

By hand, or hands-free with Siri and Google Assistant.

Fall & man-down

Raises the alarm when the worker cannot.

Safe-task timer

Overdue jobs escalate on their own, scaled by risk.

Satellite SOS

inReach, SPOT, Iridium and Emergency SOS via satellite.

Escalation cascade

Your responders, then an ARC partner, then 999.

Audit trail

Exportable evidence for duty of care and FOI.

Vygard is BS 8484-aligned. It does not operate its own Alarm Receiving Centre; where a certified response and police URN route are required, it escalates a confirmed alarm to a certified ARC partner.

Start with one team, prove it, then scale.

We would run a low-risk paid pilot with a single team or region, bounded cost and a clear exit, so your health-and-safety lead can see it working before any wider commitment.
