Good off-grid safety is layered. Vygard gives every worker the first two by default and adds satellite for the crews who need it.

1. Store and forward

No SOS is ever dropped for lack of signal. The app queues the alarm and last-known location on the phone and sends them the moment any signal returns, then escalates as normal.

2. Last-known position

Every check-in and GPS fix is kept, so if a worker goes quiet in a blackspot your team starts from where they were last seen, not from the depot.

3. Paired satellite communicator

Pair a Garmin inReach, SPOT or Iridium device. Its SOS travels by satellite to the vendor's cloud and on to Vygard, raising a real incident even if the worker's phone is flat, lost or out of reach.

Does the Vygard app work with no mobile signal?
The app keeps working offline and queues any SOS with the last-known location, sending it as soon as a signal returns. For true zero-coverage cover, pair a satellite communicator so the alarm goes out immediately.
Which satellite devices are supported?
Garmin inReach (via Garmin Explore or Enterprise), SPOT, and generic Iridium devices that can forward messages to a webhook. Each device is registered by IMEI and assigned to a worker.
What about Emergency SOS via satellite on iPhone?
Apple's feature contacts emergency relay centres, not your control room, so your supervisors are never told. A paired communicator routes the alarm into your own escalation and audit trail.
Is off-grid cover an extra cost?
Satellite pairing is part of the platform. You pay your device vendor for the satellite subscription; see pricing for Vygard plans.
